NEIL EWART

Neil Ewart steps into his place as a brilliant virtuoso exponent of traditional Scottish music.  His creative and adventurous sound is deeply rooted in his native west coast tradition. Just as pipers some 300 years ago would create their own variations on the Gaelic airs, Neil creates his own variations using contemporary harmonic and rhythmic language.

Neil honed his skills at the National Centre for Excellence at Plockton and received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Music at Strathclyde University. He was also a finalist in ‘The BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year ‘ competition in 2014.

ALI MACQUARRIE

Ali’s attentive guitar playing uplifts the tunes with a groove that will make your feet tap and the rest of you want to get up and dance. Modern counter point and use of effects takes Ali’s rhythmic and harmonic approach into new territory creating a driving backbone and ethereal landscapes upon which the fiddle dances. Ali is steeped in Highland culture and can flat pick a tune like nobodies business.

Ali also plays in the inverness based band CALA, he is currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow.
